Hydro Jetting: The Most Powerful Drain Cleaning Solution Available

Dealing with slow drains? Constantly pouring drain cleaner down the sink? The problem could be tough buildup in your sewer line.

Over time, that buildup restricts the flow of waste through the line, leading to slower and slower drainage, backups, and even overflows. That can be damaging for Las Vegas homes, but it’s disastrous to area businesses.

Don’t take our word for it, however.

The cost of restoring a commercial property after a sewer backup can range from $7,500 to $30,000, according to the IBHS.

The US experiences between 23,000 and 75,000 sanitary sewer overflows every year, according to the ASCE Infrastructure Report Card.

Don’t let your business become a statistic. The team at Elite has a solution:  hydro jetting.

What Is Hydro Jetting?

Hydro jetting is a proven drain-cleaning solution for removing tough buildup within sewer lines. High-pressure water is used to scour the interior of sewer pipes, quickly removing buildup and restoring volume and flow rates.

Commercial jetting can handle buildup and clogs from all types of materials, including:

  • Congealed fat and grease (such as in restaurants)
  • Toilet paper, paper towels, and wipes
  • Tree roots penetrating the line

How Does Hydro Jetting Work?

Hydro jetting for Las Vegas area businesses and residences involves a few specific steps. First, the Elite team will inspect your system to identify the problem and ensure that hydro jetting is the right solution. Very old or damaged sewer lines are not good candidates.

Next, our experienced technicians locate the right place to insert the hydro jetting line (upstream from the buildup or clog) and begin jetting the line. High-pressure water forces the blockage to flow down the line and away from your building.

How Water Hydro Jetting
vs. Cold Water Jetting

The Elite team can provide either cold water or hot water hydro jetting services. Cold water jetting is better for breaking through clogs. However, hot water hydro jetting is the better option for businesses dealing with fats, oils, or grease (FOG) in the lines, as it can break down the material faster than cold water.

Frequently Asked Questions about Hydro Jeering Service

Is hydro jetting safe for all types of pipes?

Hydro jetting is safe for most modern pipes when handled by a professional, but older, fragile materials can be another story. If your pipes are corroded or made of outdated materials like clay or cast iron, the high-pressure water could do more harm than good. Very old PVC pipes may also not be safe for hydro jetting.

Not sure what type of pipes you have? We can help! Our experienced team will conduct an assessment before deciding if hydro jetting is right for you. A full assessment is also important to make sure that hydro jetting is the right procedure for the problem. Some issues are better solved with other techniques.

After our assessment, we’ll let you know if your pipes are good candidates for hydro jetting, or if we recommend something else entirely.

How to Know When Hydro Jetting Is Needed?

You’ll know it’s time for hydro jetting when traditional methods just don’t cut it. Persistent clogs, slow drains, and foul odors are clear signs something’s stuck in your pipes. If you’re dealing with grease buildup, mineral deposits, or a sewer line that’s seen better days, hydro jetting can restore the flow without resorting to harsh chemicals. It’s all about giving your plumbing a fresh start.

Hydro jetting works just like it sounds. One of our experienced plumbers will use specialized equipment to direct a high-pressure stream of water into the obstruction. The pressure’s high enough that it will cut right through the blockage, so even things like tree roots don’t stand a chance.

Of course, there are some issues that hydro jetting can’t help with. For instance, if your pipes have collapsed, hydro jetting isn’t the right solution. You’ll need to have that section of piping replaced.

Can’t we use a plumber’s snake?

A plumber’s snake works for small, simple clogs—think hair or minor debris—but it’s not a cure-all. Hydro jetting, with its high-pressure streams, scours the pipes clean, removing grease, roots, and buildup that a snake can’t reach. When the problem runs deep, hydro jetting is the better choice.

Here are some of the issues that hydro jetting can help with, but where a plumber’s snake won’t do the trick:

  • Mineral deposits (like those from hard water)
  • Grease and fat deposits
  • Tree roots
  • Food deposits

In addition to those, hydro jetting is also useful for things like removing sand and silt, tough hair clogs, and more.

Not sure if hydro jetting is right for your needs? We can help. The first step is to determine the type of clog you’re dealing with. Our technicians can use advanced imaging technology to get an idea of the problem and then recommend the appropriate solution. There’s no need to deal with slow draining or constantly clogged pipes. Get in touch for more information about hydro jetting or to schedule an appointment.

Will hydro jetting clear out tree roots from the sewer lines?

Yes, hydro jetting can clear tree roots from sewer lines. The high-pressure water cuts through roots and flushes them out, leaving the pipes clean. But it’s not a permanent fix—roots grow back. Regular maintenance and possibly addressing the trees themselves might be needed to keep your system flowing.

However, hydro jetting isn’t the right option for large tree roots. In this situation, you’ll need to take more drastic action. That may involve removing the tree entirely and then replacing the damaged section of pipe.

Want to keep tree roots out of your sewer lines? The best option is to know where your sewer lines are located so you can avoid planting trees near them. However, understand that some trees can have vast root networks that spread farther from the tree than the edge of the canopy. At a minimum, plant trees and shrubs 10 feet from sewer lines. If you’re planting a tree with spreading roots, you should keep it at least 20 feet away from your sewer line.

Not sure if tree roots are your problem? Concerned that any roots you have might be too large for hydro jetting? Get in touch with Elite. Our expert team can assess the situation, determine the cause of your blockage, and then recommend the right solution. That may be hydro jetting, but it may be something entirely different depending on the situation.
