Heating Repairs in Las Vegas

The Most Common Heating Repairs in Las Vegas and What They Usually Mean

Heating repairs are nothing new to Las Vegas residents, although outsiders might question the need for heaters in the desert. If you’ve lived here for any length of time, you know that winter nights can get downright chilly, and you need a reliable heater. Unfortunately, if you haven’t kept up with your maintenance, it’s entirely possible that your heater will fail when you need it most.

The good news is that most of the Las Vegas heating repair issues we see fall into a handful of categories. Knowing what the most common heating repairs are and what causes them can help you avoid unwanted surprises.

Dirty Filters

If there’s a single most common heating repair we make in Las Vegas, it’s dealing with clogged filters. Thankfully, this is also the single easiest fix: just replace the filter. Want to avoid the issue entirely? Check your filter regularly and replace it when it starts to get dirty.

Thermostat Problems

Thermostat issues are also pretty common, and while they take more to fix than replacing a filter, they’re among the easier heating repairs we make. If the thermostat’s the issue, the furnace might not turn on or might not warm to the right temperature. In most cases, that means a wiring problem or a communication issue between the thermostat and the heater’s control board.

Ignition Issues (Igniter, Pilot, or Flame Sensor)

If you have a gas heater, it needs to ignite to warm the air. If it can’t ignite, it can’t do its job. You may notice that the system starts then shuts down again, or you might hear it click but never notice any warm air. Most of the time, the issue is a worn ignitor, but it could also be a dirty flame sensor or, if your system is older, a problem with the pilot light.

Blower Motor or Capacitor Problems

Your blower pushes heated air through the ducts. If it’s not working correctly, you may have little to no airflow. In most cases, this will require a motor replacement, but sometimes it just needs a good cleaning (especially if you have pets in your home).

Short Cycling (Turning On and Off Repeatedly)

Short cycling is a symptom that your system is overheating or has some other problem (like a sensor or control board issue). If you notice this, call for heating repairs right away to avoid excess wear and tear.

Burner and Combustion Problems (Gas Furnaces)

When burners are dirty or combustion is off, your furnace may heat poorly, cycle oddly, or fail to ignite consistently. Regular maintenance is the best way to prevent this. If you’re dealing with it, you’ll need to call for professional heating repair.
